Conversation Pieces

The second week of our mini-moon…

Sun-soaked days. Me with my cameras. Him with freckles on his nose.

Going nowhere fast… just wandering, wondering, pondering.

Watching the waves rise and fall…

Rolled up jeans and bare feet, shoes dangling from our fingers…

Playing the 2p falls without a care in the world.

Seeing the sun set on the sparkling sea…

Strange how much brighter everything seems.

After leaving the Isle of Wight, we went to Brighton…

And there I did some more snapping with my Diana.
I’m still getting to grips with my little plastic wonder
but I have to say I’m rather pleased with these shots…

The next one is my favourite I think and
my first attempt at double exposure…

Ok, maybe this is my favourite shot…
my now husband silhouetted against the sun.

I picked up these Diana shots on Friday
and if you could wish yourself back somewhere
we’d have been there in the blink of an eye.

Think the time has come to start
planning our actual honeymoon.

 So we got married. And it rocked.

It was honestly so much fun.
Far more than we’d ever
imagined it would be.

As a result, I grinned
like a loon all day.

It was a little haphazard
but it was heart-felt, happy
and at points hilarious.

I’ll share more of our day later
(& the crazy run-up) but for now
I am one very smiley married gal!

Last month, Company Magazine got in touch
and asked if they could feature me and my flat.

And I thought… well, that’s pretty cool.

So here ‘we’ are. Page 162/163 of July’s mag.

Seeing our home in print is a little surreal but nice…

This is me… around gosh knows what time
on the Saturday night of my hen weekend.

By this point, I’ve had a family do on the Friday with my besties,
aunts and cousins where we drank tea cocktails,
ate cake and learned to read tea leaves.

There may have been a lot of giggling there too.

On the Saturday, I had a burlesque lesson with friends…
(The drinking of cola wasn’t actually essential
to the lesson… but it was thirsty work!)

… then we all checked into design porn hotel Citizen M.

(Don’t you just love the bunny in my room?!)

This was followed by a dinner of extremely yummy dim sum,
lots of lovely Hendricks, and then off to Club Noir‘s American Dream night…

Which explains why I am dressed as the Statue of Liberty.

(For the observant, yes I am sitting on a stool
shaped like an elephant!)

(My other half actually made me my headpiece and a real torch…
look at it glowing in the dark! He is one crafty fellow my future husband!)

Anyway, here’s a few more of my favourite hen do pics…

Oh yes, it’s me wearing a sash… and look it has cake on it!

(My maid of honour actually had a different sash for me for
everything we did so I was very co-ordinated! She knows me well!)

 My little sis made me lyric bunting and homemade
fortune cookies… how cool is that?

This me and my family gals… I love this picture so much…

Skipping ahead to Saturday… around 3am on Saturday when the last
of us got back to Citizen M we decided to occupy this sculptural sofa…

Honestly it’s the comfiest thing ever.

I would sit on it everyday if I could…
god knows where I would put it though…

And as for the rest… well, a lady never tells!

Thanks to all my hens for an amazing weekend.

If the wedding is half as fun, then
we’re set to have a brilliant day!

Me and my home are featured on
one of my favourite blogs today,
Kerry’s The Seventy Tree.

After two and a bit years of intense diy,
our dusty old place is pretty much done.

I’ve been taking a few snaps recently so I’m
hoping to do a few before & after posts soon.

(For those of you new to this blog,
the before pictures were quite something!)

Recipe for a relaxed Sunday morning breakfast…

1. My new Robin and Mould tea cosy. Isn’t he pretty?

2. Daffodils (my favourites) bought for me by the other half.

3. The pretty plate I found at Saturday’s flea market.
How cute is the cross-stitch detail?

4. A rather delectable lemon meringue cupcake.

5. A too good to share (but I did because I’m nice) chocolate orange cupcake.

6. Some green tea. (Even if I do love Kusmi’s packaging more than the tea.)

7. My favourite teapot… and it holds a proper amount of tea.
(I always feel cheated if a pot holds less than three cups.)

8a. A nice teacup or two.

8b. Well, a nice cup for me and a more
macho coffee cup for the other half.

Put it all together and you have a very happy Sunday morning indeed…

… especially when I discovered just how warm my new cosy keeps my tea.

I am truly a tea cosy convert!

A cup of tea solves everything.

Well, not everything… it does not lengthen deadlines,
or stop certain individuals from upsetting you,
or force unreasonable people to be reasonable.

Urrrrgh.

(For the record, I am neither this pretty or this poised
when I write. As my other half points out I’m usually
scowling at my laptop like it said something rude to me.)

But a nice cup of tea does seem to help a bit doesn’t it?

A little bit of comfort while the world is kicking you.

(Also for the umpteith time, why are Party Rings not veggie?)

Wearing something cheerful seems to help too.

Ok, so some people might think you look like
a children’s TV presenter but c’est la vie.

(We think this actually happened to me in Japan.
I got stopped by lots of super polite schoolchildren who
wanted to take my picture. I was a tad colourful that day!)

And honestly if the tea isn’t doing its thing…

… it’s time for something stronger!

On Saturday, it started snowing…

It’s now Thursday and it hasn’t stopped.

I feel like I’m living in a snow globe.

Just as well I bought myself mittens last week.

On Saturday, me and my mittens went to visit a potential new wedding venue.

(I was planning on doing a Weddingnesday post about it
this week but time has just run away with me.)

Anyway, on the way there we met these frosty fellows…

There were three adorable baby Highland moos too…
but the adult cows kept blocking them whenever
we went to take a picture. Darn.

On Sunday, we got up to this view…

Our plan had been to go visit the Castle but it was shut due to the snow.

So we went to the park instead.

It looked so pretty and serene.

But with all the squeals and shrieks
from sledgers, it was pretty noisy.

We wished we had a sledge.

Until we spotted this little old woman…

At a surprisingly fast speed, she was driving round the frozen pond,
throwing bits of old bread and being chased by swans.

And hooting with laughter all the way!

As the swans were distracted, I took the opportunity to do some snapping.

Swans are much taller than you think they are… which is only
vaguely disconcerting when you’re taking their pic!

Then we went off for a small snowball fight
and contemplated making a snowman.

Good scarf huh?

I can’t remember what me and this snowman
are looking at… it was maybe the sun setting.

Which made for a beautiful view on the way home.

(After 4 days more of snow, this street is much, much snowier now!)

Hope you’re all not too snowed-in/stuck/disrupted by it all.

I want it to last until the weekend so I go out and play in it…
even if I still haven’t found my wellies yet!
