My hall has always bothered me.
It’s long, doesn’t get a lot of light
and we tend to just dump stuff
there when we come in.
It’s also the first thing you see
when you come in the door.
Well, no more. Now what you see
is this fine fella… Mr Tiger.
I got this print specifically for the hall
but he felt like he needed some company…
So I got some little shelves from Present & Correct,
and happily got sent some amazing PolkaLOVE!
from Denmark to brighten up the walls too…
I originally bought Kerry‘s Good Times print
for a friend… but then forgot to give it to them!
Whoops! So I decided to keep it…
(It wasn’t the plan all along. Honest!)
The other shelf is currently ‘exhibiting’
a few cards I picked up in Japan
and my cross-stitched charity find.
Not sure if I’ve finished putting up the PolkaLOVE! yet,
still have loads more… but I’m also loving how well it sits
with our Hang It All (generous wedding present!).
All in all, a much happier hall than before.
And hopefully all the colour/tiger-ness
will distract from the mess of discarded
shoes, bags, bike helmets etc etc!

P.S. Has anyone ever successfully kept their hall tidy?
If so, do tell! Shoes in a suitcase is how I’m rolling right now!
P.P.S. Regulars here might notice I’m blogging less nowadays.
I’m over onΒ Instagram pretty much every day though.
Anyone else feel that it’s just easier than blogging?
Hi I like the polka dots , brilliant! My hall is really boring , I don’t have a direct source of light to it and keep my shoes on a biblioteq’s shelves …. thou that, I m thinking on making it brighter any suggestions?
Anca, in my old place I just used to have big mirrors in the hall to try and brighten it up a bit? And had white floorboards to help reflect the light too? Definitely helped a bit! x
Thank you Zoe ! I’ll start doing something about it soon !! your blog is an inspiration to me, I can’t stop love it!
Ooh I love this! Our hall is so so boring and I hate it because it’s the first thing that anyone sees obviously. It is still magnolia from when we bought it because we ran out of time to paint it and thought painting up the stairs and landing too would be a mammoth job and now I regret it. We need to get some nice art up there I think to brighten it up! We have a trunk that we throw all of our shoes in and a horrible coat rack that was there when we moved in too. The only thing we have changed is the light fitting! Definitely giving me some inspiration here.

That’s what was always bothering me about ours Helen – the first thing anyone sees (and it’s probably our least tidy space!)… On the plus side, it is the space that you spend the least time in (I’m assuming!). Did search for a trunk a while back… might have to put that back on my thrifty radar x
Liked that tiger print. It looks real.
Those dots would look amazing in my daughter’s room! WANT! Once you have kids, you can say bye-bye to tidyness – it only gets worse π
A smashing hallway if ever we saw one! π
Coolest hallway I’ve ever seen! That tiger is awesome and I love the spots x
I love your hall especiall the dots.
My hallways never seem to stay that tidy although we are doing better lately as in our new place there is a big cupboard off the hall so that isn’t doing so well but the hall is looking clutter free.

Your hall is great and looks so pretty. It cheers me no end so hope it does the same for you!

Our hall is literally five doors and a hook for the keys – there’s no room to make a mess! I don’t recommend it, though; I’d rather have somewhere to chuck my shoes.

lady, can you please come and overhaul my house please, love love love the hall pics!! x
It looks amazing! Love those spots and the ‘Bless this Home’ sign. And I agree, Instagram is the way to go – I’m not even that interested in Twitter any more!
Yeah, it’s just so much easier isn’t it Lynne? (Though I’m still a Twitter addict I must admit!) Think if instagram had been around when I started blogging, I’d have probably just done that instead! x
I love this! Looks so lovely and colourful – wouldn’t have expected anything less of you π
My hall is generally pretty tidy, the rest of the flat is the dumping ground, but it has no windows so is a bit gloomy.
Thanks Linsey π Our spare room is also a bit of a dumping ground but I tend to just close the door so I can’t see that π Yeah why did they make halls so gloomy? Ours is quite dark even on sunny days! x
I love it. Really great idea for a rental flat too.
I love the polkadots! I want some! They will go nicely with my bunting wall and shiny stars!

Ah yes, that would be super cute! π
Love the shelves. Love the dots. Buying both.
Ah the polka dots go so perfectly well with your coat hanger π And the tiger is awesome. I guess it’s hard to decorate a hall way because when you find something really pretty that’s the last place you want it to be.
And I totally agree with the Instagram thing; I took a break between blogging for exams and have found it really difficult to get back into the swing of things, whereas I LOVE posting photos on instagram π Loving your feed as well
Thanks Abigail π So true on wanting to put nicer things in nicer places! Will need to find you on instagram π
I’ve always yearned for a hang it all – it looks great alongside your polka dots. Love the tiger too. My hall is always full of shoes, school bags and lunch boxes no matter how hard I try!

Hahaha, the look on that tiger’s face is hysterical! Love the dots too, I had the same struggle with our entryway. I’m fairly satisfied with it’s current state, but I’m afraid we’ll need to take the clutter for granted! (Just clean up for the picture: fake it ’till you make it :-))
He he, great advice Marlous! I need to just accept my clutter π
I love it. You’ve seen my dingy rental flat hall, with no natural light. We have a mean clause in our lease that doesn’t let us hang anything and wallpaper making it impossible to hang anyway and cover later. Polkalove seems like a great solution!
Wow – I’m absolutely loving this post! I love your revamped hall soooo much – infact I am pretty envious right now! I have been living in my flat now for over 2 years & still haven’t got it looking how I want it to look. Your blog has inspired me to de-clutter & make nice with my home! Well…at least i’ll think about it while i’m in Paris for a week & start it when I return β₯
Absolutely love what you’ve done, it’s so lovely. Those polka dots – I want some!
oh my gosh, this looks completely amazing! the polka dots are fantastic, and I’ve loved that good times print for such a long time now. maybe I should accidentally buy it for myself too π
So purty!
I LOVE it! I love your use of colour, our hallway is currently taking shape and we have bright ‘jolts’ of colour too. When it is done I will post pics.
Sounds amazing Jessica, can’t wait to see it! x
It’s gorgeous Z! I loved your hall before, but those polka dots with your Hang All is dead cool. And Mr Tiger – who wouldn’t want to be greeted by him?!
your hall is too cool for school.
yep.
π
i love it!

Love the polka dots!! Can you tell me where you bought them? I went onto the webshop but it was all in Danish?? Any help would be great!!
Hey Laura. Moleta Munro (http://www.moletamunro.com/) stock them (or Curiouser and Curiouser http://www.curiouserandcuriouser.com/ are about to start stocking them). They sent me mine from Denmark so you can also email them if the other options don’t work? x
I think this is hugely creative and I’m LOVING it all! I love how the polka dots tie in with your hat/coat rack. I love the blue tiger, the little shelves for your display pieces. God, i wish I was a tenth as creative as you!
Ali x
Awww thanks Alison! π

Hi, i’m your newest follower, you won me over with coloured dots and the Hang it all, mine was a wedding pressie also!
Is that a habiat frame your tiger is in? I have a couple but can’t seem to find them now and they are so good for displaying anything really, but especially odd sized prints. Where is yours from?
Thanks!
Hey Amy. Yes it is a habitat frame… it’s one I’ve had for years though (there’s no Habitat left in Scotland now). Hope you find something similar! x
