Weddingnesday… the wedding with space hoppers!
23 Jun
Have you seen K, tea‘s wedding?
I saw her pics on Saturday morning and was immediately grinning from ear to ear.
This is so how I want our wedding to be – full of fun, laughter and a little silly.
We’ve been seeing celebrants recently and have been struck by how serious they are.
We mentioned it to our families and they said ‘well, marriage/the ceremony is serious’.
And the two of us looked at each other and smiled…
They should know us better by now.
Congratulations to Katie and her mister – you guys look like you had such an awesome day!

Our celebrant was awesome! He’s called Derek and he used to be a policeman, and he was really good-humoured. He made a point of saying that it was a happy occasion and it was fine if kids ran about, and he was so flexible and non-stressy it made a big difference on the day. Even made a small aside during the ceremony, and displayed some impressive comic timing. But he had a good blend of serious in there too. Anyway, we really lucked out there
Also, space hoppers, wahhh! Beyond cool. And I love your new chair a lot!!
The space hoppers are so cool; looks like they had a blast!
You absolutely should fill your day with laughter – we had plenty of that during our ceremony since we know our minister so well; the first joke being of course how ridiculously late I was!
Love happy wedding pics! So cute
OK, there are no two ways about it… I INSIST you have space hoppers at your wedding!
Or – at the very least – pogo sticks… you could pogo over the threshold afterwards??
If you do wind up with a serious celebrant, you can still inject your humour with the readings…
We had a bouncy castle at ours – great for the kids, even better for the grown ups when the kids had gone to bed!
Wow! Want!!!!
thanks so much for the lovely comments and blogging about our wedding! all of the pictures from it are in a folder called “the best day ever”. it really was!
Could Catherine’s celebrant Derek be your celebrant? Do they travel?
ooooh!! so cool space hoppers!! I could get on board with that! and pogo sticks! and a bouncy castle! and a trampoline! as for your celebrant you could do a Joey from friends and get one of your friends/family to do it… ooh and bubbles!! as favours or something… the endless possibilities!
I totally agree with you on wedding celebrants but there is one guy who is the best ever! I am assuming you are going for a Humanist Ceremony than you should get in touch with Alastair Douglas. He was our wedding celebrant and made the whole ceremony so much fun! I highly recommend him! http://www.humanism-scotland.org.uk/celebrant-directory/details/douglas-alastair-2.html
My cousin had a humanist celebrant from Edinburgh – not sure of the name but he gave them loads of encouragement with their vows and the service was both incredibly touching and really, really funny.
