Where it all started…

My kitchen obsession? I had a revelation about it the other day.
I bought my first kitchen at 22 – it had blue doors with a wooden worktop.
It was basic but I adored it.
But it wasn’t really my first kitchen…
My first was a Bluebird A La Carte Kitchen.
It stands as a testament to how much I loved this kitchen that I was vaguely jealous when my little sis acquired it many years later.
For those who you remember this kitchen – and for those of you who don’t – here’s the original TV ad:
Please note I never tried to cook actual food with my A La Carte kitchen – only ever sweetie fried eggs!

I had one of those!! Also had a Stop Me and Buy One with play-doh ice cream cones, loved them both
I had one of those too! Think I made mashed up weetabix with syrup – a true gormet! Also had a play sweetie shop – those were the days…
i had one of those! my grandpa got it for me at a labour party bric a brac sale
x.
Had it and loved it too! Although did urs come with the little boxes of fake food like on the ad?! I remember I always felt robbed as I didn’t have these!
oh wow, that took me back. i think i used to say the lines along with the little girl, knew it off by heart. wake up daddy, breakfast ready!
Oh my! I always desperately wanted one, but never got one…booooo! Very jealous that you had one. I so remember the advert with the baked beans and swiss roll!! Must be where my obsession began too….I’ve been told I have a kitchen fetish, hmmmmmm. xx
Me too! And my little sister got mine too. My mum used to give me baked beand and things to ‘cook’ in it, and then I’d do my own washing up! I haven’t seen that advert in YEARS!
Thank you for the memory!
I actually broke my sisters first ever barbie kitchen – But I was aged 4! She still reminds me about it though haha
I also have abit of a kitchen obsession..however sad it sounds I love my worktops and my chunk tap and my flat touch screen hob

OMG!! What a memory. I loved my bluebird kitchen, I loved that advert. How on earth did you rememeber that?!Now i know where my kitchen obsession came from
I have to confess it wasn’t me that remembered the ad… I was convinced my kitchen was a fisher price one and was trying to describe it to the OH… and he said is it the one with the beans and the swiss roll! So it wasn’t me – but so glad we found it!
As for remembering the actual kitchens, I’ve just been thinking too much about kitchens lately!!
I can’t remember if I actually had one of whether I just played with it at school.
They were so cool!
Was never all that interested in the kitchen I had an obsession with the Early Learning car though. Perhaps that is why I never do any of the cooking?
