So me and the OH are going to see our first potential wedding venue on Saturday – and you so know it’s going to be raining. (It’s been chucking it down all week so seems unlikely it will be nice at the weekend.)
Anyway, this got me wondering about rainy weddings.
Partly because we’re considering maybe getting married next November rather than Spring/Summer 2011 – but looking out at the grey downpour out there I’m wondering if that’s such a good idea.
It could be really pretty…
Or it could just be pretty wet?
What do you think?
Happy (wet) Weddingnesday everyone xx
My favourite wedding took place on the 1st of August and it absolutely poured down all day! I don’t think you can ever predict the weather, but if you prepare for rain then at least you’ll be warm and cosy rather than not preparing for the rain and being wet and cold. Hope the venue visit goes well!
Oh that last picture is so lovely. I think it could be kind of romantic if it’s absolutely pouring down. But if it’s drizzly and grey and cold it might just be annoying. Maybe go for more October/ September time? The weather would be milder and more Autumny rather than cold and grey. Good luck on your venue visit though! So exciting! You’ll have to let us know how it goes xx
I think the same as Becca. If you plan for rain, what ever time of year you want to get married then you cant be disapointed when it chucks it down on your big day. I love all the images, rainy weddings look very romantic and dreamy and you can buy some lovely umbrella these days. x
Watch the last section of ‘Monsoon Wedding’ – get a load of those coloured see-through umbrellas and it’d look lovely!

Rain makes for stunning photos, trust me. 🙂
Im going for the assume there could be rain and make sure we have enough big umbrellas for the day! We made sure our venue had areas inside for photo taking just in case!
If it ends up like yesterday in Edinburgh I will cry as no umbrella would help! Ha ha! Or just laugh!!!
Are you looking at venues in / around Edinburgh?
raining on your wedding day is good luck! and it can make for nice photos, too. it rained almost the entire day we got married and it was actually lovely: http://www.flickr.com/photos/treesofmachinery/3716152783/in/set-72157621743650780/ good luck!
a rainy wedding! i think they say that is good luck. and if the shots you have in this post are any indication it sure might be a beautiful thing! 🙂
and thank you for your sweet comment — i really appreciate it. 🙂
Rain is definitely lucky!!
I think November is a lovely time to get married – rain or shine. It’s when you start beginning to feel that Christmas is round the corner and everything seems a little bit magical.
I think the key is to plan for all eventualities and not get to hopeful about any kind of weather as it’s the one thing you have absolutely no power over whatever time of year you pick. As you know, we had a summer wedding but it was bucketing down the day before. I had my green polka dot wellies in the car and a big umbrella all ready but after a rainy start to the morning we were very lucky and the sun shone all day. I had made peace with the idea of rain though and we’d have had some lovely umbrella pics if it had gone that way.
It’ll be the best day ever whatever the weather!
Meg xx
