OMG i have done exactly the same thing with EXACTLY the same chair!!! I picked one up at a local second hand place and it had the same fabric as the one in your pic and eerything! I used Cath Kidston Spray Flowers fabric (white) with a light blue piping cord.

I'm dead chufed with it, you must be pleased too as yours looks lovely!

R - that's funny, we've been looking at the pictures ourselves too today. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'm going to do some proper before and after pics of our place. I keep thinking there's so much still to do but looking at those pics reminds me of the amazing amount of stuff we've done in the last year!

Meg (and RayB)... it took much more fabric than we'd anticipated. We'd bought 2 meters originally (we were planning to use it for a different chair) but had to buy another 3 meters in the end (and there wasn't that much leftover).

We started out with an old copy of easy living magazine which had reupholstering instructions and by looking at some random sites online. (I'd looked at books in the library all helpfully called 'how to repair and reupholster' but they were pretty hard to follow.)

So being us we just decided to have a go... the other half's plan was to remove the existing fabric and use that as a template - and sort of reverse engineer it!

However we got into trouble once we opened up the seat of the chair as the springs were all screwed... turns out the 'naughty chair' girl had been using it as a trampoline!

So in the end we had to enlist the help of a little old guy to sort it out. Was a bit of a debate as we'd wanted to do it all ourselves – but if we'd done that then it would have been a chair for decoration only as opposed to sitting on!

Wow, great chair! You did a great job with the re-upholstery. I agree a bold red pillow would look great.

P.S. So glad you like the abstracts. I had such fun doing them.

I effing love this chair! So amazingly brilliant. Looked at the flickr pictures of your little flat before the renovations over the weekend and you've one hell of an imagination to be able to see the potential in that flat and that chair! Rx
